Meal Plan Monday

Last week didn’t go quiet as planned.  I’m hoping for better results this week!  Although we only ate out once meals were moved around and pushed aside!  I’m really hopping to stick to the plan this week!

Sunday:  Meatball Subs
Monday:  Ground Beef Tacos
Tuesday:  Spaghetti and Garlic Bread
Wednesday:  Mac & Cheese – The blue box kind!
Thursday:  Lasagna (I made this ahead last freezer cooking day)
Friday:  Chicken Tacos  (the meat is already cooked and in the freezer from freezer cooking day)
Saturday:  Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes and Corn (the meatloaf is put together and in the freezer just needs to be baked!)

I Saved Money – CVS – WOW!

Wow!  I think I scored big time at CVS this morning!  I worked out 2 deals (1 for each card) to use up some ECB’s.  I was getting close to $100 in ecb’s.  Thats way more than needed so I used them up!  I still have plenty of ECB’s to roll for future deals but having $100 worth is too much!

First up My Card:

I used a $5/30 CVS coupon and $36 in ecbs and paid $1.86 + $2.75 tax for a total of $4.61

With both transactions I paid a grand total of $8.44 out of pocket (including tax) for everything!  Thats less than the extra papers would have cost had I bought them separately!   I made $10 ecbs on one card and $9 on the other and with what I already have I still have about $40 in ECBS!

I’m so very happy with todays transaction!  I was starting to wonder how I could score so cheap toilet paper as our supply was getting to the very bottom!

I Saved Money – Expiring Coupons

I made a quick run to Fry’s to cash in on a few great coupons that were about to expire!  The Oral B toothbrushes are on sale for $1 and I used a coupon $2.00/2 expires today!  The Crest is on sale for $1.00 also.  I used a $0.50/1 and 2 $0.75/1 to get those free!  I was happy to see Fry’s had restocked their crayons!  I picked up 6 of those at $0.25 each and 2 packs of markers for $1.00 each.  The markers put me over the $20 to produce a $4 OYNO.   If I would have just got the crayons I would have gotten a $2.50 OYNO which is still great but Caylee asked for markers!

The milk is on sale for $0.88/half-gallon limit 6.  I picked up 2 for tonight.  I’m planning a shopping trip for tomorrow to use the $10.00/$50 before it expires and will get more milk and crayons then!

Total for today $7.94  Saved $40.97 thats  85% (not to shabby for a quick trip huh?) plus I got $4 OYNO and crayons toothbrushes and toothpaste to donate!  Success!!!!

Also on tomorrows list Free shampoo!  I’m excited to finally build up a stock pile on shampoo this has been the one thing I haven’t been well stocked on in the year plus of couponing!

Freezer Cooking Plan August

Wow it’s almost been a month since the last freezer cooking day! We most defiantly still have plenty of meals!   We ate the taquitos and some smoothies!  We had meat loaf and meatball subs!  We cooked up some of the marinated chicken for dinner too!  Yet we still have 5 meat loafs dinners 3 lasagnas and plenty of garlic bread and meatballs in the freezer.

At first, I thought I should just skip this month of freezer cooking but I remembered there were somethings I didn’t have time to add to last months list!  I think I will do a smaller version that will provide me with much convenience this month.

Last week I made up a quadruple batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies. I baked one batch and froze the rest! After I saw Laura do this I knew this was for me!  How smart!  Make your own convenience foods right down to the cookie dough!  I have a bag of frozen cookie dough ready to go in my freezer now!  Just scoop the dough into rounds and flash freeze once frozen put them in a bag and when you want to bake some just pop a few out of the bag and on to a cookie sheet!  Who needs that expensive break apart cookie dough when you can make your own!?  Seriously I think this is like the greatest thing!  I think another few batches will have us set in the cookie department for a while!

I also want to make up a few more smoothies this month! I really enjoyed having these ready to go for breakfast or as a nice treat after dinner!  I did learn that a full round container is a lot of smoothie! I need to make smaller portions but they sure are delicious!!

Next up Baking mixes. I’m going to follow Fishmama on this one!  Another great idea!  One thing that stops me from making pancakes on Saturday morning is all the dishes that come with baking from scratch.  So why not make my own mix up!  Now all I will need to do is add the wet ingredients and mix it up!

I like making our food from scratch when I can so the bonus of making it ready to go in dough and mix form is something I’m really going to enjoy!

I’m keeping it simple this month with make ahead conveniences!
